Winter Golf Substitutes– A Primer On The Golf Domes Of Cook County

As I go into my third season of golf, It seems that I am ready to take the next step and Break 100. However, I have one bridge that stands in the way of continuous improvement: Winter.

I live in Cook County and living here in the upper Midwest does not translate to a smooth, upwardly pointing improvement curve. It looks more like the stock market graphs you see with seasonal upswings followed by abysmal lows. You see, us northerners only get 5 or 6 months of weather that is warm enough to execute a full round of golf.

In my mind this means that I am at a severe disadvantage when it comes to sharpening my golf game to meet my full potential. For every 12 months of playing time, a person in living in Florida will have had the opportunity to play 24 months. This year however, I am ready to ensure that I am improving my game and consistency.

So, I have done the following:
1. Developed my own golf tips website at http://yourbestgolftonight.com to compile all of my best “golf swing” conclusions;
2. Read even more online guides to help me learn how to improve on the cheap;
3. Promised to get out to a driving range at least once a week to ensure that my game doesn’t go away.

So I went to Google and looked for the term ‘golf domes in Cook County’. I determined that there are about three or so located near me with the closest being about 10 miles away. Now who has the competitive advantage, huh? Take that!

Anyhow, the best beginner golf tips that made sense to me and that I believe really helped me improve my game say that in order to advance quickest, you should make a goal for yourself to hit.

This is tricky given that most golf domes are not much longer than 100 yards in length. One of the domes I have visited has sort of solved that problem, especially for those times when you break out the longer sticks in your golf bag.

White Pines Golf Dome in Bensenville IL is cool in that they have bulls-eye targets at different heights along the back wall as well as simulated greens and obstacles. It doesn’t hurt that a golf dome is going to be a balmy 72 degrees on our worst winter days, either! Fantastic!

If I am going to meet my goal of breaking into the 90’s this summer, I know that I have to not only maintain my game during the off season but I also have to markedly improve in a few key areas. I am happy that I live near places that will let me get the practice that I need for a relatively low price and relative comfort!

Yeah, I’ll definitely take that instead of wearing a hole in my living room carpeting anyday.
